My photography education began in middle school when my mom taught me how to use my first camera, a well loved Nikkormat I still have, to take pictures of flowers in our backyard. I was fortunate to learn from the incredibly talented faculty in photojournalism at Ohio University, before becoming a staff photographer at The Advocate in Louisiana. The work was challenging, but rewarding. In addition to covering four major hurricanes and the BP oil spill, I was witness to powerful stories of hope, hardship and resilience in the community.

Since becoming a freelance photographer, I have worked on a broad range of projects. I remain inspired to tell the stories of our community - through portraiture, editorial assignments, and collaborations with small businesses and non-profits.

Clients include the Washington Post, the Associated Press, The Atlantic Coast Conference, World Wildlife Fund, Global Wildlife Conservation, Walter Magazine, the News & Observer, Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Cary Magazine, and Lo & Behold Naturals.
